The lasting effects of World War II
So the war ended and men started coming home to their women working their jobs. There were many divorces after World War II along with women being single parents because of the loss of their husbands. This meant that women would be permanently working men's jobs. Women, for the most part, were no longer "the homemakers", which meant less women stayed home to cook meals for the men.
